Kahoot is a takeoff on the sports bar trivia game that you can use for Spanish to compete against others. The learning platform that makes it easy to create, share and play learning games or trivia quizzes in minutes, anytime and anywhere. It works for any subject and any language on any device in which you can discover existing games in their Kahoot library. Players answer anonymously to a list of questions and after each question, it shows a poll of how many students got the question correct or not but does not share who answered what. The game keeps points depending on how many questions were answered correctly and how quickly they were answered. Quizlet is a free online resource and app that offers a wide variety of quizzes, games and virtual flashcards for many different subjects, including Spanish. You have the option to look through the tons of already-made sets of vocabulary but if there is a certain curriculum your child would like to study for, it’s easy to create your own. Using the “Flashcards” tab, you have the option to tab and listen to the words being pronounced and repeat them aloud. You can also go to the “Match” game and try to get the fastest time you can or go to the “Spell” game and try to beat your best score. With many games and vocabulary sets to choose from, this is an amazing resource that can be used as a fun study tool.
3 Rockalingua
Rockalingua offers music-based Spanish learning for kids which is great for auditory learners. The games that are offered are perfect for children or anyone that is looking to learn basic words or phrases at the beginning of their language development journey. Each game focuses on different topics which can range from colors, feelings, animals, basic verbs and so much more. These interactive games can be played on a computer or on a tablet for easier access.
This website is proven to be very effective for practicing listening skills in an entertaining way for beginners. The songs are available for free as well as with a paid subscription.
4 The Dialogue Game
This particular game is great for intermediate and advanced students who are looking to practice their conversation skills. This is not a substitute for actually learning to speak Spanish with a native speaker, but it can be useful in practicing sentence structure in the flow of conversation.
Starting out you will choose between dialogue by grammar or dialogue by categories. This allows you to choose what you want to concentrate on. Once you select one, you will hear two people having a conversation and you’ll be given some questions in which you have to choose the correct one. This game is a good option to practice conversing, especially if you have no one else to do this with.
5 PollyLingual
This educational website offers different topics with four styles of games you can play which include memory, word search, hangman or whack-a-word. These games are designed to enhance your Spanish vocabulary and as you advance through the sections, it continues to reinforce the words you’re learning. This educational game is different to others in the way that it offers feedback if you have any questions as you play. The beginner games can be played for free, but if you are on more advanced sections, you will need a subscription to continue.
